Lampung Krui Ombak Indah surf camp

Welcome to Ombak Indah surf camp, situated on the point of Tanjung Setia about 30kms south of Krui in West Lampung, South Sumatra. Ombak Indah is in the prime position on the point, overlooking the long left hand break named Ujung Bocor, with a perfect view of the reef and waves running along it. The surf camp, or losmen in local language, is about 15mins by car from Way Jambu in the south and about the same distance north to the Mandiri beach breaks and 25-30 mins to Krui lefts and rights. There are many other breaks further to the south and north. Check the Waves page for more info. Ombak Indah is set on a large block with natural gardens surrounded by many coconut palms and other trees. Accommodation consists of 13 rooms, 9 of which are single or twin share, 2 rooms that can accommodate 3 people and another 2 rooms that can handle up to 4 people. Motorbike or car hire is available locally and management at the losmen can organize that for you. There is 24hr security at the camp and non-guests or staff, local or western are checked. The losmen, to the present time has a good safety record since 2001 when it opened. Nothing has been lost from guests rooms or the verandahs since day 1. Food is the best we can provide and the kitchen staff do a great job feeding hungry surfers. 99.9% of comments are very favorable regarding flavor and quality. Some crew don’t like rice too much. Vegetarians are catered for, just let kitchen staff or Nev or Ani know your needs. Airline tickets to other destinations, domestic or international can be arranged, trouble free from Ombak Indah. A surf tour guide is on location fulltime during the season and is available for hire if he’s not busy with premium tours. Bookings are accepted from several tour operators but ‘walk ins’ are always welcome. Mainly we cater to surfers who want a relaxing holiday with plenty of quality waves available in close proximity, time to chill out and enjoy where we are. Often parties will happen, birthdays are a special, but if you’re a TV or DVD addict, need someone else to entertain you, or want to snake or hassle for every wave coming through, or you’re a wannabe surf star then this isn’t really the place for you. Our buzz over the years has been the many friendships made between our guests. Everyone has a story to tell and we all can learn from each other. We have a bar/shop providing ice cold beers, soft drinks, fresh juices, snacks and a range of other goodies, including wax and leggys. This area is a great alternative to Bali and you’re going to see some real Indonesia and choice waves without Uluwatu style mega crowds and it one of the most popular Sumatra surf camps. Come and enjoy, we’ll be glad to meet you!
