Site Description
After draining the central plateau region of Central Sulawesi, the Laa descends through a narrow valley to a tectonic basin, where it is joined by the Tiu river. The outlet of this basin at Koromotantu is narrow, and it is believed to have formerly been occupied by a lake. The 14,000 ha includes 1,660 ha open water swamp (seasonal lake), 4,000 ha perennial swamp (swamp vegetation), and the remainder is a seasonally swampy alluvial forest. Principal vegetation: Freshwater swamp forest, peat swamp forest, open swamp growth, mangroves. Some settlements.

Lembah Laa is located on Kolonodale, Central Sulawesi.
