Basoh, Beef meatballs with a spicy sauce

Beef meatballs with a delicious spicy sauce


1 kg beef
2 eggs
3 cm galangal (or a large tsp. Laos powder)
2 shallots
2 cloves garlic
salt and pepper to taste
cabbage leaves
toothpick gently

Ingredients for the sauce:

3 cm djahé / ginger (or a large tsp. Ginger powder)
2 red chilies
salt to taste
75 ml of acetic
100 gr peanuts
50 ml of water


Rub in a tjobek the laos and the garlic to a paste. Slice the shallots finely and whisk the eggs. Mix the ingredients well and form into balls. Pack the meatballs in cabbage leaves and fasten with toothpick gently. The balls in about 20 minutes until steaming.

Rub the ingredients for the sauce to a nice fine smooth paste and heat the sauce in a small fire. Pour the sauce over the cabbage balls. Want a delicious spicy sauce? Certainly not remove the seeds from the Lombok
