General
Tanjung Peropa Wildlife Reserve comprises an area of 38,000 ha near Kendari in South-East Sulawesi province. The peninsular is relatively flat and consists of mangrove forest and shrub-brush forest. More inland the terrain is hilly with non-Dipterocarp forest.
Most of the area is relatively flat, in particular near the coast. The vegetation consists of mangrove forest and shrub/brush forest. More inland the area is hilly and covered with non-dipterocarp forest. In the coastal area part of the natural habitat has been converted to agricultural use (Ladang). There are some small tidally affected mangrove-fringed rivers. Principal vegetation: Mangal communities include Sonneratia alba, Rhizophora mucronata, Ceriops tagal and Bruguiera sp.
