Provenance Ende. Locally referred to as zawo mangga jara. Handwoven fabric made of cotton. Consists of three panels sewn together. The end panels of this Ende-sarong are identical and form, after the three panels have been sewn together, mirror images of each other. The predominant color of this sarong is indigo. The central panel contains three wide ikat bands and four narrow ikat bands. The wide bands have horses and diamond motifs and the narrow bands have geometric ikat figures. All ikat bands are flanked by narrow bands with red ikat forms against a dark indigo background. The two end panels have the black band, called mita mer矡nd contain a wide ikat band and four narrower ikat bands in which the motifs of the center panel are repeated. The colors are from natural dyes. Condition very good. Older than 30 years. Size 168 x 65,5 cm. Width is doubled when opened. Weight 803 gr. (Crus)

The end panels of this Ende-sarong are identical and form, after the three panels have been sewn together, mirror images of each other. The central design field is without horizontal ikat bands. The small ikat motifs are red and white (cotton color) on a brown background. The central panel has vertical side borders. This vertical border is repeated within the central field, dividing it into two vertical sections. The two end panels have the black band, called mita mer矡nd contain a wide ikat band and several narrower ikat bands with the same motif as is shown in the center field. The colors are from natural dyes. Condition very good. Older than 30 years. Size 175 x 64 cm. Width is doubled when opened. Weight 586 gr. (Crus)

The end panels of this Ende-sarong are identical and form, after the three panels have been sewn together, mirror images of each other. The central design field contains three wide horizontal ikat bands and four narrow ikat bands. The wide bands contain fine ikat diamond motifs in red and white (cotton color) against a dark brown background. In each ikat band there are end motifs. All ikat bands in this sarong are flanked by narrow indigo ikat bands. The two end panels have the black band, called mita mer矡nd contain a wide ikat band similar to those in the middle of the central field. The end panels also have a number of narrow bands with the same fine ikat motifs. The colors are from natural dyes. Condition very good. Older than 30 years. Size 164 x 73,5 cm.
