Mountain forests Sahuwai group designated as a conservation area status as a Nature Reserve Area by the Minister of Forestry Decree Number: 805/Kpts-II/1993 dated 30 November 1993, with an area of approximately 18,620 ha.
Sahuwai Mountain Nature Reserve is located adjacent to the Cape or Cape Saala Shit. Administratively, the government included in the West Seram District, Level II Regional District of Central Maluku.

POTENCY

Some of the conditions of natural resources which are potential Sahuwai Mountain Natural Reserve, among others:

* Having a type of plant species from lowland forest vegetation and forest season, among other things such as Linggua Wood (Pterocarpus indicus), Damar (Agathis sp.), Kenari (Canarium sp.) Gofasa (Vitex coffasus), Iron Wood (Intsia spp. ), Natural Orchid (Dendrobium spp., Calanthe spp.) and various types of Palma.
* Having a variety of wildlife species endemic to the island of Seram as Kuskus (Phalanger spp.), Seram Cockatoo (Cacatua molucensis), Nuri Heads Black (Lorius domicelus), Perkicit Green (Trichoglosus haematodus), Kesturi Red (Eos bornea), Cassowary (Casuarius casuarius ), deer (Cervus sp.), Forest Pig (Sus scrova) and various types of butterflies.

FACILITIES

Facilities or infrastructure for the management and utilization of the Mountain Natural Reserve area Sahuwai not exist at all. The visitors or researchers entering this area of nature reserves for various purposes are staying at the Village Head / Village Head or the surrounding area in the House Head West Seram.

ACTIVITY

Activities that have been conducted in order management and utilization sahuwai Mountain Nature Reserve is still very limited, among others:

HOW TO REACH THE AREA

How to reach the area of Mount Island Nature Reserve Sahuwai can be reached by way of:

* From Ambon to Piru with ground vehicles via ferry crossings with travel time of about 5 hours, or
* From Ambon to Hitu with ground vehicles about 1 hour and continued by sea to the Piru vehicle with travel time of about 1-2 hours.
* Then from Piru to the region directly through the village around on foot takes about 1-2 hours.
