General Information About Us :

Hills Joglo Villa is in Central Java, which is the cultural and social hub of Indonesia and has many spectacular sites, such as Borobudur and Prambanan Temples and the Dieng Plateau.
Our Villa offers for rent nine (9) splendidly restored antique wooden Javanese Joglo houses, ranging in age from 100 to 350 years, furnished with Javanese antiques and providing modern facilities. These include: individual AC, IDD call, WiFi internet connection, satellite TV, DVD player, coffee maker, and mini bar. A total of 50 guests can be accommodated. It is set in six hectares of paddy field and beautiful sculptured gardens in the foothills of Mount Ungaran, just 30 minutes from the center of Semarang and 35 minutes from the Semarang International Airport.
We offer the following attractions:

  • 15 m swimming pools, child paddle pool, play ground swing and slide, badminton court and fitness center and a small fishing pool for guests.
  • A coffee shop and gallery, currently with an exhibition of 22 works by Semarang artist, Akuan.
  • We arrange pick up and drop at cost from airport or train station (currently Rp 100,000 each way).
  • Caters for individuals, small groups, executive retreats or weddings.
  • Extensive collection of antiques. Including an important collection of Indonesian terracotta water jugs (kendi) from throughout Indonesia.
  • Javanese, Chinese or western food is served, either in the Joglo houses, in the beautiful gardens or in a sophisticated small restaurant attached to a modern art gallery.
  • We can organize daily trips to Yogyakarta, Borobudur, Prambanan, Dieng Plateau and Solo or to the many sites of interest around Semarang.
  • The garden retains an interesting assemblage of animals and plants representative of the remnant wildlife of Java- which is mainly retained in such settings. This includes 43 bird, 33 butterfly, seven frog and seven lizard species. Many species of rare fruit tree have been planted. Our small coffee plantation nestles in the villa hill.
  • Local walks to the slopes of Mount Ungaran are through secondary forest and plantations of nutmeg, coffee, and cloves. These areas are also rich in wildlife.
  • The paddy surrounding the Joglo is a living farm that is share-cropped and produces three harvests a year. The ecological cycle of this paddy unfolds daily and is eternally fascinating. From the water buffalo that move in to squash in the rice stalks to the flares at night of the local villagers as they hunt for eels.
