Haji Widayat Museum is a fine art museum that was set in a comprehensive building having gallery and art shop in 3000 m2 wide in a kind of 2 floor Art Deco architecture on a land of 7500 m2 in width. This museum lies on Letnan Tukiyat Street, Sawitan, Mungkid, Magelang on the 3 angle road, about 2 km before the Borobudur temple. Being a reflection of dream, obsession, and achievement of the painter Haji Widayat, this museum was officially opened for public on April 30th, 1994 by Minister of Education and Culture, Prof. Dr. Ing. Wardiman Djojonegoro. All rooms in this building are set so perfectly that will get enough light, without excessive lamps, get enough air circulation, and cool enough although without the help of air conditioner.
Haji Widayat Museum collects his own works and some painters at his age such as: Affandi, Bagong Kussudiardjo, Abdullah, Rusli, Sudarso, Kusnardi and But Mochtar. It also presents the works of young painters such as: Subroto, Aming prayitno, Sudarisman, Suwaji, Harjiman, Made Djirna, Ivan Sagito, Nasirun, Agus Burhan, etc.
On the first floor there are more than 127 works of Haji Widayat both paintings and statues ranging from 1 X 1 cm up to 450 X 500 cm in size produced in different years. On the second floor there are paintings, graffiti, and drawings in sketch from different artists with the total numbers are 138 pieces.
On the back yard of museum there are Park of Statues collecting outdoor sculptures of Haji Widayat’s works, unique and endanger plants, doves, Kate and Cemani chickens which are a part of Haji Widayat Museum’s collections.
Haji Widayat Gallery lies next to southern part of the main building in approximately 1300 m2 in size presenting paintings and sculptures for sale. There are also antique irons which made this gallery more interesting. This gallery is also used for temporary exhibition or workshop for it can display more than 50 – 60 paintings or graffiti and 25 – 30 sculptures and installation arts.
Haji Widayat Museum also has an Art Shop selling various art works.
This museum is open from 09.00 – 16.00. On Mondays it is close. Admission fee for a student is Rp. 2.500,- ; a general visitor is Rp. 5.000,- ; a foreigner visitor is Rp. 10.000,-
